("Cherokee Baskets" written in the Cherokee Syllabary)

Web Site

NOTE: This is a graphics-intensive web site. Please be patient while images load.

This beautiful all natural basket with lid is made of honeysuckle vine. After she gathered the vine, Mary boiled and then stripped its bark.

Mary is a member of the Cherokee Nation who is an established artist. She creates contemporary and traditional baskets using her unique personal touch. She has blended traditional Oklahoma Cherokee double-walled basket techniques with her own special methods she has refined over the years. Contact Mary at mstone777@aol.com for pricing information.

These baskets represent Mary's latest contemporary works. Each basket is named - from left to right "Southwest," "Sky and Earth," and "Kiva Steps."

Mary teaches the art of Cherokee basket weaving, which is a great way to relieve stress. Contact Mary at mstone777@aol.com for class times and pricing information.

Shown here is the side view of a more traditional basket, as beautiful as it is useful.

A view from the top of the same basket. Notice the level of symmetry that she achieves.
